As many as 100 new townships are proposed to be developed in Uttar Pradesh over the next 5 years to realize USD 25-30 billion potential in real estate and housing.
Leveraging progressive urban development policies- New Township Policy, Integrated Township Policy and Affordable Housing Policy, satellite and twin cities are planned near major cities like Lucknow, Ayodhya, Agra, Noida, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Mathura, Meerut, Moradabad, Prayagraj and Kanpur.
Theme-based cities are being planned in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Noida are to be developed as Financial Cities to bolster Uttar Pradesh as a preferred investment destination in South Asia. Medi Cities are planned in Gorakhpur, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly and Chitrakoot districts. Film Cities on the other hand, are planned in Gorakhpur, Lucknow. A mega film city is already coming up in Greater Noida near the upcoming Jewar International Airport spanning 1000 acres , to be developed in three phases.
A prominent theme- based city planned by the Uttar Pradesh government near Mathura is a Rs 7200 crore Heritage City which will be built on Yamuna Expressway Authority (YXPA) land measuring 10500 hectare.The first phase of the Heritage City will come up over 753 acres. The upcoming city will give a big push to religious tourism in Mathura-Vrindavan Circuit as it will be inspired by the life of Lord Krishna. The major attractions of the Heritage City include a 350-acre heritage centre, yoga, wellness naturopathy and ayurveda facilities over 130 acres and hotels, parks and green spaces spread over 143 acres. The development of the Yamuna Riverfront will be a major tourist attraction. As the tourists club Mathura-Vrindavan with Agra, a New Agra Township is planned over 10500 hectare.
As part of the Greenfield Townships Plan, industrial townships have been proposed in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Agra, Hapur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Gorakhpur and Chitrakoot districts.Besides, as many as five industrial parks are planned to be established near Jewar Airport by the Yamuna Development Authority. These industrial facilities will be developed along the 165 km long Yamuna Expressway which connects Greater Noida to Agra via Mathura.
Meanwhile, Noida , Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will get a major air connectivity push with the Civil Aviation Ministry planning to develop 4 dozen heliports in Delhi-NCR.
