In a major boost to regional connectivity and economic integration, the Haryana government has approved the extension of the Delhi–Gurgaon–SNB (Shahjahanpur–Neemrana–Behror) rapid rail corridor up to Bawal, reversing its earlier decision to end the first phase at Dharuhera.

The move is expected to significantly improve daily commute options and enhance industrial growth prospects for thousands of residents and workers across south Haryana.

The decision followed a strong intervention by Union minister and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, who objected to limiting the rapid rail corridor to Dharuhera.

Singh highlighted the growing industrial and logistical significance of Bawal and the surrounding region, urging Union minister of urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar to push the corridor further towards Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan.

On Sept 26, Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) communicated the state’s in-principle consent to NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), confirming the corridor’s extension upto Bawal.

HMRTC managing director Chander Shekhar Khare clarified that any further expansion beyond Bawal would require cost-sharing from the respective state govts. His letter cited major upcoming developments in Bawal, including the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (IMLH), the proposed Manesar–Bawal Investment Region (MBIR), and a 2,400-acre expansion of IMT Bawal, as key reasons for the extension.
