      Goa gets world-class convention & expo hub with 4,200-delegate capacity

      The International Convention and Expo Centre, Goa, was recently inaugurated during India Energy Week 2026, marking a significant milestone in India’s contemporary civic and institutional infrastructure. The inauguration coincided with one of the world’s largest global energy gatherings, positioning the centre as a premier venue for international dialogue, collaboration, and exchange.

      The realisation of this landmark project has been made possible with the strong support of the Government of Goa, reflecting a shared vision to strengthen Goa’s position as a global destination for conferences, knowledge exchange, and high-value engagement, while balancing economic opportunity with environmental sensitivity and regional identity.

      Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), as the project owner, envisioned the centre as a world-class platform for international engagement and institutional excellence. The project has been guided under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, reinforcing its role in supporting India’s global energy leadership and dialogue.

      Engineers India Limited (EIL) played a key role in project management, engineering coordination, and execution oversight, ensuring seamless integration across architectural, structural, and building systems. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has also been a key stakeholder, aligning the project with India’s national vision of strengthening MICE infrastructure and positioning Goa as a leading international convention destination.

      The International Convention and Expo Centre, Goa has been designed by CP Kukreja Architects, one of India’s leading multidisciplinary architecture and urban design practices. With over five decades of experience, the firm has delivered more than 1,500 projects across India and over 40 countries.

      Reflecting on the project, Dikshu C. Kukreja said,
      “The International Convention and Expo Centre, Goa was envisioned as a civic setting where global dialogue could unfold within an architecture deeply rooted in place, climate, and culture. Hosting India Energy Week here reaffirms the role of thoughtful design in enabling meaningful exchange, collaboration, and long-term impact.”

      CP Kukreja Architects is known for shaping projects of national significance including Ayodhya Vision & Master Plan, Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, East Delhi Hub, India Pavilion at Expo 2020, Dubai, Gautam Buddha University, Vallabh Bhawan, Madhya Pradesh, Aerocity, New Delhi, and heritage landscapes such as Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Udyan.

      The firm has received several national and international recognitions including India’s Hot 100 Architects and Designers (2024), 25 Best Architecture Practices in India (2023), People’s Choice World Expo Award (USA, 2022), 100 Architects of the Year by UIA, Paris, and the National HUDCO Design Award.       The project is led by Dikshu C. Kukreja, world-renowned architect, urban planner and environmentalist, Managing Principal of CP Kukreja Architects, with associate offices in India, Vietnam, Japan, and the United States. He also serves as the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Albania to India.
