The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has introduced a new framework allowing vacant land parcels and open spaces under its control to be rented out for short periods, a move aimed at improving the utilisation of public assets across Jaipur. Under the policy, individuals and organisations can lease these properties for up to 90 days at a time for a range of commercial and social activities.

According to officials, the authority has issued rates and operational guidelines to facilitate the short-term use of available plots and spaces. These properties can be allotted for a maximum period of 90 days at a time, with the option of renewal if required.

The initiative is intended to provide organised venues for various activities while ensuring that unused public land is utilised more effectively.

Range of Commercial and Social Activities Permitted

Under the framework, both commercial and non-commercial uses are permitted. Commercial activities include site offices, maintenance storage, exhibitions, car washing services, stone and marble sales, game zones, and circuses.

Non-commercial activities allowed include social and religious gatherings, mass weddings, educational programmes, temporary parking facilities, and nurseries.

Jaipur Development Authority Secretary Nishant Jain said the move aligns with the state government’s objective of ensuring systematic and optimal utilisation of public assets within the city.

      Application Process and Usage Conditions

The facility will be open to residents of Rajasthan, registered organisations, societies, and business entities. Applicants must submit copies of their PAN card and Aadhaar card along with the application.

A non-refundable application fee of ₹500 will be charged. Once the booking is approved, the applicant must pay the entire rental amount in one instalment along with a security deposit equal to 10% of the total amount.

      Conclusion

The allotted land can only be used for temporary activities, with permanent construction prohibited. Tenants will be responsible for security, cleanliness, waste management and damages, and any rule violation may lead to cancellation of the licence.
