The Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) has flagged 137 residential projects for operating without approval, exposing widespread irregularities in the city’s housing sector.
While only 43 schemes have secured official sanction after a legal audit, 94 remain illegal, putting homebuyers at risk of legal and infrastructure-related troubles.
Officials have warned that these unapproved projects pose risks to homebuyers, including lack of infrastructure, legal disputes, and resale complications.
HDA has advised citizens to verify project approvals through official channels before making any property investments. The authority is also planning awareness drives to educate buyers on due diligence.
Developers of the illegal schemes may face penalties, public notices, and possible blacklisting if they fail to regularize their projects. HDA is expected to intensify inspections and tighten enforcement to curb unauthorized construction and protect consumer interests.
