India’s office furniture market is poised for robust growth, projected to rise from USD 4.8 billion in 2025 to over USD 7 billion by 2030, according to industry experts. The surge aligns with a record expansion in India’s office real estate, where Grade-A leasing crossed 70 million sq. ft in 2024 and demand for managed and flexible workspaces jumped 57% year-on-year. As companies increasingly focus on ESG compliance, wellness-driven design, and AI-enabled facility automation, the launch of ORGATEC India 2025 marks a pivotal moment in shaping the next generation of sustainable, human-centric workplaces.

Dr. Mala Singh, Chairperson, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) – Mumbai Chapter, said “India’s workspace and commercial real estate market is set for rapid expansion as the economy pushes toward a five trillion milestone. By 2030, the commercial stock is expected to nearly double, driven by strong demand and India’s status as a global opportunity hub. The future of work will be defined by climate-resilient, green buildings that prioritize productivity, health, and happiness, while delivering on India’s net-zero 2070 commitments.”

Dr. Mala Singh further said, “ESG is central to this transformation; SEBI’s BRSR mandate has already accelerated transparent sustainability reporting among leading corporates. Design and operations must work together to decarbonize workplaces, improve indoor environmental quality and build resilience at scale.” She was speaking at the first edition of ORGATEC India 2025.

ORGATEC India 2025, the global benchmark for workspace design, technology and facility innovation, is set to redefine how workplaces in India are imagined, designed, automated, and experienced. The event marks a transformative moment for the nation’s commercial interiors and office solutions industry. With 103 exhibitors from over 10 countries, it serves as a critical platform for global brands, architects, designers, and corporate leaders to co-create the future of work. The grand inaugural ceremony took place in the presence of key dignitaries and industry leaders.

Nirupam Chaudhuri, Director, NASSCOM, said, “Post-pandemic, offices are being reimagined for openness, collaboration, and comfort, with intelligent systems optimizing light, air, and energy. Sustainability is a core design input, not an afterthought. For the tech sector, where teams work long hours, ergonomic and human-centric environments matter enormously. We see strong adoption of AI, IoT and sensors across facilities, and NASSCOM is committed to partnering with allied industries to accelerate this journey. These are very promising times for India’s workplace ecosystem.”

Speaking at the event, Ajay Bhatt, CRISP Contributor & Group Head – Corporate Services, Godrej Industries Group, said, “After a brief pandemic pause, India’s office market has rebounded and is outpacing pre-COVID momentum. The future hinges on people, technology, sustainability and employee services must blend to help teams do their best work. We target an indoor AQI below 10, because air quality measurably improves focus and happiness. Sustainability is a boardroom issue and it does come at a cost, but we are committed to 100% renewable energy, net-zero wastes to landfill and IGBC certifications across offices. Hybrid will stay, but with a stronger in-person rhythm to restore collaboration and velocity.”

Speaking on the launch edition of Orgatec India, Mr. Milind Dixit, Managing Director, Koelnmesse Pvt Ltd said, “ORGATEC to India was a strategic decision driven by the country’s rapid shift from cost-based office development to value-led workplace investment. Companies are now prioritising ergonomics, acoustics, wellness and technology-enabled planning and this is reflected in the numbers. The corporate wellness market is already over USD 2.5 billion and the office furniture segment is set to rise from USD 4.8 billion in 2025 to more than USD 7 billion by 2030. ORGATEC India has been created to support this change by giving Indian decision-makers a direct global-standard platform for sourcing next-generation workplace solutions.”

Koji Higashiguchi, India Investment Manager, Kokuyo Co. Ltd. said “India stands at the forefront of a workplace revolution where offices evolve into purposeful ecosystems that nurture wellbeing, creativity, and shared values. The future is not defined by furniture alone, but by environments that inspire people to grow, connect and contribute to society.”

ORGATEC India 2025 is supported by leading industry bodies including the Africa Facilities Management Association (AFMA); Architects, Engineers & Surveyors’ Association (AESA); Corporate Gifts Association of India (CGAI); Council for Realty Infrastructure & Services Promotion (CRISP); Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC); Indian Green Building Council (IGBC); Integrated Building Automation Community (INBAC); Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT); and NASSCOM. Their participation reinforces the show’s role as a converging platform for workspace, design, real estate, tech and sustainability stakeholders.
