Sakarni Plaster (India) Pvt Ltd has launched Suntara, a new affordable gypsum plaster product, as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in India’s growing building-materials market. At the product launch, the company also announced an ambitious business expansion roadmap, targeting nearly ₹1,000 crore in turnover, with its expanded POP business expected to generate approximately ₹200 crore in incremental revenue.
Sakarni Plaster, which recorded an approximate turnover of ₹700 crore in FY25, is scaling up its manufacturing capacity, distribution network and presence across emerging construction markets as it looks to capture a larger share of India’s growing POP and gypsum plaster market.
The newly launched Suntara Gypsum Plaster has been developed with a focus on value, coverage and finish. The product is offered in a 25 kg + 5 kg pack, providing a total of 30 kg, giving customers additional quantity within the same pack. Suntara is positioned to offer higher coverage, a smooth finish and consistent application, catering to the requirements of contractors, applicators, dealers and consumers across India’s expanding construction markets.
The launch comes against the backdrop of a significant opportunity in India’s POP market, which is estimated at around 25 lakh metric tonnes annually. The affordable segment accounts for nearly 70% of the overall market, making value-oriented construction-material solutions an important area of growth for manufacturers.
As part of the expansion roadmap announced alongside the product launch, Sakarni has increased its manufacturing capacity by nearly 30%, taking its production capability to approximately 1 lakh metric tonnes per month. The company is targeting annual POP sales of nearly 12 lakh metric tonnes, supported by increased production, deeper market penetration and an expanding distributor and dealer network.
The company plans to strengthen its presence particularly across Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where rising construction activity, housing development and urbanisation are driving demand for affordable building materials. Sakarni is also sharpening its focus on South India, with plans to deepen channel partnerships and expand distribution across key construction and real estate markets.
Affordability remains central to the company’s strategy. Sakarni’s POP portfolio is positioned at approximately 15–20% lower prices than several comparable offerings in the market, enabling the company to target a wider customer base while strengthening its competitiveness in the value segment.
Alongside the launch of Suntara, Sakarni is also looking to expand its portfolio beyond traditional POP and plastering solutions. The company is preparing to enter adjacent building-material categories, including construction chemicals, waterproofing solutions and paint chemicals, as part of its longer-term portfolio diversification strategy.
Commenting on the product launch and the company’s expansion roadmap, Dr. Ashok Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, Sakarni Plaster (India) Pvt. Ltd., said: “India’s construction and real estate sectors are entering a phase of sustained expansion, creating significant opportunities for organised building-material manufacturers. POP remains an essential material across residential, commercial and interior applications, and we believe the category has substantial room for growth as construction activity broadens across the country.”
