New Delhi’s Dwarka-based Yashobhoomi, India’s state-of-the-art International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), has bagged the prestigious International Architecture Award 2025, a global honour conferred by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.

The award will be formally presented later this year at the historic Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The announcement was made by former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant in a post on X on Wednesday.

“Delighted to learn that Yashobhoomi… has been honoured with the highly prestigious International Architecture Award 2025,” he wrote, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi “for the vision” and for the opportunity to conceptualise and drive the project as secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

Situated on the Delhi–Gurgaon border, Yashobhoomi is India’s largest convention and exhibition centre, built across more than 73,000 sq m.

As per official data, its world-class convention centre houses 15 meeting spaces, including a main auditorium, grand ballroom and 13 smaller rooms, with a total capacity of 11,000 delegates. The plenary hall alone can seat 6,000 guests and features an automated seating system that can switch between a flat floor and tiered auditorium-style seating.

The grand ballroom, adorned with a unique petal ceiling, can host 2,500 guests and has an extended open area for an additional 500. The 13 meeting rooms, spread over eight floors, cater to diverse scales of events.

Its exhibition halls — covering over 1.07 lakh sq m — rank among the largest in the world and are linked to a copper-ceiling foyer with natural light filtering through skylights.

The design integrates Indian cultural motifs, from brass inlay terrazzo floors inspired by rangoli patterns to illuminated patterned walls.

Yashobhoomi has also earned a Platinum rating from the Indian Green Building Council, with features such as 100 per cent wastewater reuse, rainwater harvesting and over 100 EV charging points in its 3,000-car underground parking facility.
