Chhattisgarh has launched an ambitious statewide housing push under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, unveiling 55 projects worth ₹2,060 crore through the Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) to deliver more than 12,000 affordable homes across 26 districts. Alongside the construction rollout, the state introduced a new AI chatbot and online portal to boost transparency and streamline citizen access — signalling a strong drive toward inclusive housing and digital-first governance.
The newly announced housing projects reflect a strong commitment by the state government to tackle its housing shortage. With over 12,000 homes planned, these will cater to low- and middle-income families in both urban and semi-urban areas.
CM Sai stressed that the government wants to make ‘affordable and quality homes’ accessible to many more people.
The scale of the investment – Rs 2,060 crore – signals a concerted push to improve living conditions across the state.
How the AI Chatbot and Portal Will Help
Alongside the housing projects, the CGHB has launched a new AI-powered chatbot and a dedicated online portal. These tools will allow citizens to check project updates, view application status, and access booking details.
By bringing information online, the government aims to reduce paperwork and bring more clarity to how the housing board works.
The chatbot is designed to answer common queries in simple language. That way, prospective homeowners don’t need to make repeated visits or rely on middlemen.
Financial Support Strengthens Chhattisgarh Housing Board Projects
To ensure the plan works, the state government has taken steps beyond just launching projects. It cleared a Rs 790-crore debt of the Housing Board to help it operate smoothly. This gives the Board more financial stability.
Officials say that relaxations in land diversion and freehold rules have also made it easier to develop projects. The Housing Board Chairman has announced that future construction will be accelerated in all assembly constituencies.
Public Response to Chhattisgarh Housing Board Projects Is Strong
The housing expo held at BTI Grounds, Shankar Nagar, drew a large crowd. Several citizens booked units on the spot. CM Sai personally handed over booking certificates, keys, and freehold titles to early allottees.
Legislative leaders – including the Assembly Speaker and Housing Minister – praised the Housing Board’s performance. They also highlighted that the state has allocated nearly Rs 14,000 crore in its budget for future housing work.
Challenges and the Road Ahead for Chhattisgarh Housing Board Projects
While the launch is ambitious, implementation will be key. Building 12,000 homes across 26 districts will require strong project management, labour, and supply of construction materials.
The success of the AI chatbot and portal will depend on how well they are maintained and updated. For many citizens, digital literacy could be a barrier – the help systems need to be user-friendly.
Also, ensuring that the promises made at the event translate into real, quality homes will take time. Monitoring construction quality, timelines, and the fairness of allotment must remain a priority.
