Godrej Enterprises Group has been awarded the prestigious IGBC Green Champion Award for leadership in the large-scale adoption of green factory buildings at the CII IGBC Green Building Congress 2025 in Mumbai. Conferred under the category ‘Leaders in Large Scale Adoption of Green Factory Buildings in India’, the recognition underscores the Group’s long-standing commitment to sustainable industrial infrastructure and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

As a Founding member of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Godrej & Boyce has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to sustainable industrial infrastructure, with nine of its manufacturing units already adopting the IGBC Green Factory Buildings Rating.

Green factory buildings offer significant advantages, including tangible reductions in energy consumption by 30–40%, and water savings of 20–30% from day one of occupancy. In addition to these measurable benefits, green factories enhance indoor air quality, provide superior daylighting, and promote the health, well-being, and safety of the workforce—intangible benefits that contribute to a sustainable and productive work environment.

In a moment of significant recognition, the award was ceremoniously presented by Mr. Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman of CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre; Mr. B Thiagarajan, Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council; Mr. C Shekar Reddy, Vice Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council and Mr. Jeff Oatman, Chairman, Asia Pacific Network, World Green Building Council.

“We are honoured to receive the IGBC Green Champion Award, which reflects Godrej Enterprises Group’s ongoing dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable manufacturing practices,” said Ms. Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director. “Our green factory and good & green strategy underline our commitment to innovation that benefits both the planet and our people for the long term.”

Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head E&E, along with senior leaders from the Construction and Real Estate teams, accepted the award, reinforcing Godrej & Boyce’s leadership role in India’s green building movement.

“The IGBC Green Champions Awards are IGBC’s highest recognition for organizations that have shown exceptional leadership in making India’s built environment greener. Now in its 12th edition, these awards celebrate those who have truly moved the needle on sustainability. It is our honor to present this award to Godrej Enterprises Group for their commitment which has helped India achieve the second-largest green building footprint in the world” said Mr. B Thiagarajan, National Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council.

The Green Building Congress 2025, held from November 27 to 29 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, served as the backdrop for this celebration. Recognized as Asia’s largest conference and expo on green built environments, the three-day event featured an international conference alongside a grand Green Expo showcasing over 1,000 eco-friendly technologies and innovations. The Congress, marking IGBC’s 25th anniversary, focused on accelerating India’s Green and Net Zero Building Movement with key discussions on decarbonization, AI and IoT in buildings, green financing, and women’s leadership in sustainability. It represented a pivotal platform for stakeholders to collaborate for a sustainable future.

The Green Champion Awards, organized by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), celebrate trailblazers who have advanced India’s green footprint—currently among the top three worldwide with over 14.80 billion sq. ft. of certified green built environment. Adarsh Group’s achievements reflect their leadership role in enabling India to set global standards in green homes.
