Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar TS Sandhu has emphasised close coordination between the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and GMR to ensure integrated and future ready development of Aerocity, given its strategic proximity to Dwarka.
During his recent visit to Aerocity, the L-G said integration of Aerocity’s infrastructure with the wider sub city would help both areas develop in a complementary manner. The L-G noted that Dwarka is developing into a major investment and commercial destination and termed it a key growth corridor for Delhi’s future.
He also directed that green infrastructure and sustainability principles remain at the core of all future planning for Aerocity, stressing that rapid urban development must not come at the cost of environmental considerations.
During the visit, officials from GMR gave the L-G a detailed presentation on ongoing infrastructure development works in the area. The visit was part of his continuing engagement with key growth nodes of the Capital to review on-ground progress and align private infrastructure development with broader urban planning priorities.
Discussions focused on sustainable urban planning and the manner in which upcoming infrastructure works are being designed to support long-term, planned growth. The L-G also reviewed water conservation and flood management systems, with focus on ensuring resilience against waterlogging and flooding during the monsoon season.
He further reviewed traffic management measures around Aerocity and plans for seamless last-mile Metro connectivity, which he noted were essential to easing congestion and improving accessibility. The L-G said sustainability, water security and efficient mobility must remain central to Aerocity’s planning framework.
