Waaree Green Data Centers has subscribed to the initial share capital of the two entities in cash. The company did not disclose the financial details of the investment.

The subsidiaries will develop and operate data centres and digital infrastructure, including hyperscale and AI-focused facilities. Their offerings will include co-location, cloud connectivity, data storage and cybersecurity services, Waaree said.

Waaree Renewable Technologies has been exploring opportunities in data centres and battery storage as it seeks to diversify beyond its core solar EPC business, with management identifying digital infrastructure as a potential growth area according to media reports.

India’s data centre sector is expanding rapidly, driven by growth in digital services and e-governance, with installed capacity rising from about 375MW in 2020 to 1.57GW as of August.

Waaree joins a growing list of companies investing in India’s data centre sector, including AdaniConneX, Digital Connexion, Princeton Digital Group and L&T Cloudfiniti.
