The residents of DDA colonies who are planning to carry out modifications in their houses now take advantage of relaxed norms of Delhi Development Authority’s new policy to carry out hassle-free modifications.
Under the new policy, DDA has eased its rules, making it simpler for the residents to make additions and alterations in their houses. As part of this revised policy, residents can now undertake a wider range of modifications, including installation of EV charging points, rooftop solar panels and accessibility ramps, temporary sloping terrace covers with lightweight roofing material and glazing through an intimation process. Rooftop solar panels for domestic use will be permitted with prior approval, subject to compliance with the unified building by-laws and the ministry of new and renewable energy guidelines.
What has come as a pleasant policy for those living in DDA flats, is a new policy that allows them to carry out a number of additions and alterations without seeking approval from DDA. Under the revised policy, they are now able to install EV charging points in designated parking areas in accordance with the guidelines of the central government without prior approval. Similarly, the residents of DDA colonies are now allowed to add lofts, install additional PVC water tanks, construct accessibility ramps, augment the capacity of their rooftop water storage, convert windows into cupboards under specified conditions and create openings for window air-conditioners or exhaust fans without the need for seeking any permission.
